Our Kids Sustainability Commitments
We’re known for looking after kids’ feet – but what about the Earth they walk on? We’re working to make our children’s shoe collections more sustainable.
We’ve launched pioneering brand partnerships, including a consciously crafted organic cotton collection with leading sustainable clothing brand Frugi and a resale initiative with pre-loved platform dotte. And our children’s shoes are now underpinned by five key features that minimise our impact on the planet for the next generation – from recycled materials to responsible leathers.
Our Kids' Commitments
Recycled Sketch Mesh Linings
Our School and School Sport collections use breathable sketch mesh linings to keep busy feet feeling breezy – and they’re crafted with 50% post-consumer recycled content.
Chrome-free Leather Linings
All our children’s shoes use chrome-free leather linings (tanned without chrome). This reduces the use of chemicals, minimises risk of contamination in the supply chain, and makes it easier for the material to biodegrade at the end of its lifecycle.
Braskem Eva Soles And Midsoles
Lightweight EVA soles and midsoles not only put a spring in their step – but 12% of the EVA used is Braskem, which is made from sugarcane.
Leather and Sustainability
Clarks is a founding member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), a global multistakeholder initiative dedicated to driving excellence in the leather industry, minimising the environmental impact of leather production, and challenging industry perceptions, through a suite of tools and ESG certification. Clarks’ kids leather products support responsible manufacturing via the Leather Working Group.
Recycled Materials
Toe boxes and counter materials – the components that give our kids’ shoes their shape – contain recycled materials, helping to lessen manufacturing waste and reduce our footprint wherever possible. Please see our product pages for percentages.
